As we reach the end of a truly fantastic half term, I would like to congratulate our entire school community. It has been a period marked not only by rising standards, but by a genuine sense of unity and shared purpose. It was especially moving to see the whole school come together to form our “picture of peace”— a powerful and memorable symbol of what we can achieve when we stand united. In this season of Pentecost, we are reminded of the power of the Holy Spirit to bring people together, to inspire courage, and to guide us in service to others. This spirit is clearly alive within our school.
We have also been delighted to offer enriching opportunities beyond the classroom. Our French trip to Paris is a fantastic experience, giving pupils the chance to immerse themselves in language, culture and history. Such opportunities are invaluable in broadening horizons. Next term, our Year 10 pupils will undertake work experience, an important step in opening their eyes to the wider world. This is central to our educational philosophy: learning is not just about knowledge, but about preparing young people for life.
I would like to wish our Year 11 pupils every success as they begin their study leave. With around three weeks of GCSE examinations remaining, they continue to demonstrate real determination. This work ethic should inspire Years 7–10 as they prepare for their own assessments; good luck to you all.
Standards remain vital. Pupils must look smart and act smart, adhering to our expectations. As the weather warms, we will adapt uniform requirements as appropriate. From Half-term, pupils will be given the option to wear their blazer around the School or leave it at home. In addition, when appropriate, we will give pupils the option to wear their PE Kit to School so that they are comfortable to learn during the warm weather. Pride in one’s appearance and feeling part of the School family is essential.
Thank you for your continued support. Inspired by John Henry Newman, we remain committed to an education that forms the whole person in service and purpose.
Have a lovely Half-term holiday.
