Headmaster’s Message– Week 33 (15 June 2026)

Jun 19, 2026

School life continues to be wonderfully busy at St Joseph’s. We congratulate our Year 11 students as they complete their GCSE examinations and reach the end of an important chapter, while Year 10 are currently undertaking their mock exams before moving on to valuable work experience opportunities. Our final teaching day will be 10th July, after which we look forward to a range of community events; further details will be shared in a separate letter.

This week has been rich in opportunity, including WiseUp team-building sessions for Years 8 and 9, the Year 9 visit to Bath Spa University, and the Sparsholt Futures trip. A number of students also had the privilege of meeting the Rt Hon Caroline Nokes MP.

With nearly 250 families signed up for our Year 5 Taster Day for just 120 places, all signs point towards a very positive future. St Joseph’s is a wonderful family, and I am delighted that Mr Rooney, our Headmaster Elect, has already been such an integral part of our journey. As he prepares to take the helm in January 2027, his deep commitment to our community and vision for excellence will ensure our ambitious plans continue to move the school forward with confidence and purpose

Last Thursday, we were delighted to join the parish community at St Gregory’s Church as several of our students received the Sacrament of Confirmation. On behalf of our Headteacher and the St Joseph’s community, we offer our heartfelt congratulations to Nikola Dobies (St Martha),Paulina Kocikowska (St Mary Magdalene), Alejandro Morales Vega (St Joseph of Cupertino), Leon Patora-Podsiadlowicz (St Pope John Paul II), Oscar Rowe (St Sebastian) and Filip Piasecki (St Sebastian). We are incredibly proud of these students and the witness of faith they have shown. We pray that the Holy Spirit continues to guide and inspire them on their journey of faith.

Cake Sale & Food Bank Collection – This Friday!

Thank you for your continued support of our chaplaincy fundraising and food bank work. This Friday we will hold a Cake and Ice Cream Sale, with all proceeds going to Salisbury Food Bank. Please consider sending pupils with a small amount of money to take part. We will also launch a Food Bank House Competition soon, with prizes for the largest donations. Next Friday, our chaplains will visit the food bank to help pack parcels and learn more about supporting local families.

Caring for Our Common Home

Well done to our Eco Group for their continued hard work under Mrs O’Grady. This week, students secured the greenhouse, positioned raised beds, and began planning planting by calculating soil requirements. They also explored ideas for wildlife habitats and were excited to discover a frog, found and photographed by new member Vanya. Participating students: William Robertson, Thomas Logan, Leo Korus, Kian Escott and Vanya Kurasov.
