Parent Notices – Week 3 (19th Sept 2025)

Sep 19, 2025

As we approach next Friday’s International Day, I am filled with pride and anticipation. This special occasion is not only a celebration of the rich diversity within our school community, but also a powerful reminder of the values we hold dear. We invite all families to join us in embracing the colours of heritage, national dress, and cultural traditions that make our school such a vibrant and inclusive place.

International Day is also an opportunity to support our school through donations, which help us continue to provide enriching experiences for all our pupils. Your generosity, as always, is deeply appreciated.

One of the things I am most proud of at St Joseph’s is our unwavering commitment to inclusivity. It is the heartbeat of our school; a place where every pupil is welcomed, valued, and celebrated. This inclusive spirit creates a family atmosphere that strengthens our community and reflects the core principles of Catholic Social Teaching.

As St Paul reminds us in his letter to the Galatians: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28)

This powerful message underpins our belief that every person is equal in the eyes of God and deserving of love, respect, and opportunity.

Catholic Social Teaching is built on several key pillars, all of which are deeply embedded in the life of our school:

  1. Human Dignity – We believe every person is made in the image of God and deserves respect. Our pastoral care and inclusive ethos ensure that every pupil feels safe, seen, and supported.
  2. Community and Participation – We encourage active involvement from pupils, staff, and families, fostering a sense of belonging and shared responsibility.
  3. Rights and Responsibilities – We teach our pupils about their rights and the importance of respecting the rights of others, promoting justice and fairness in all aspects of school life.
  4. Option for the Poor and Vulnerable – Through charitable initiatives and outreach, we instil compassion and a sense of duty to care for those in need.
  5. Dignity of Work and Rights of Workers – We value the contributions of all staff and promote a culture of respect and collaboration.
  6. Solidarity – We stand together in unity, especially in times of challenge, and teach our pupils to be peacemakers and bridge-builders.
  7. Care for God’s Creation – Environmental stewardship is part of our curriculum and daily practice, encouraging pupils to care for the world around them.

These principles guide everything we do and help shape our pupils into thoughtful, compassionate, and responsible citizens.

Looking ahead to next Thursday, we are excited to host our first Open Day and Evening of the academic year. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase St Joseph’s; our pupils, our staff, and our shared values. Visitors will be able to:

  • Tour our facilities and see learning in action
  • Meet our dedicated teachers and support staff
  • Hear from current pupils about their experiences
  • Explore our curriculum and enrichment programmes
  • Witness the warmth and inclusivity that define our school culture

We hope to welcome many prospective families and community members, and we encourage you to spread the word.

Thank you for your continued support and for being part of the St Joseph’s family.
