Art & Design
Art is a creative subject which offers pupils the opportunity to develop a diverse range of creative skills, knowledge, and understanding. Through hands-on projects and practical application, they will explore the varied disciplines within art, craft, and design.
After studying in KS3, pupils have the opportunity to choose Fine Art as a GCSE option, expanding their artistic abilities while also cultivating a deeper understanding of the wider art world.

- Students learn about Catholic and the cultural religious values of other people

- Students are faced with social dilemmas and look at how technology has been employed to solve humanity’s problems
An appreciation for human creativity:
- Students are given the opportunity to develop presentations of their work and to cultivate a sense of self-expression
- Students work towards qualifications by looking at the great creativity that has come from technological innovations
An appreciation of human achievement:
- Students study the works of a wide variety of designers and the eras in which they worked and were influenced by
- Students study performers of note
- Students explore artistic movements through time
- The department offers students a glimpse into how we have reached the point where technology is so intertwined with our lives. Students are led to question the future given the rise of the internet and AI
Cultural capital in creative arts and technology allows students to become confident in voicing their opinions and listening to the views of others with curiosity and respect.
It creates students which are excited about the part they can play in creating the world of tomorrow, they are aware of how far technology has help us to develop the modern world and they can imagine how things might evolve in the future.
