Headmaster’s Message– Week 5 (2 Oct 2026)

Weekly Bulletin Banners (1000 x 400 px)

Dear Parents and Carers,

At our school, there is an important distinction between managing behaviour and meeting need. Behaviour is often the outward expression of a deeper need, and our mission is to respond with understanding, compassion and high expectations.

As a Catholic school, we recognise every child as being made in the image and likeness of God. Inspired by Pope Francis’ call to a culture of encounter, we seek to build relationships that help pupils feel known, valued and understood. When young people experience belonging and acceptance, they are better placed to grow academically, socially and spiritually.

This commitment is reflected in our strong pastoral care and the opportunities we provide for every pupil to succeed. By creating an environment where pupils feel safe, respected and supported, we establish the foundations for excellent learning.

Our ambition is not simply for pupils to meet expectations, but to develop the confidence, resilience and aspiration to fulfil their God-given potential. As academic rigour continues to embed across the school, we anticipate that pupils will become increasingly confident learners, embrace challenge and take greater pride in their achievements.

Pastoral care and academic excellence are not competing priorities; they are mutually reinforcing. Through encounter, belonging and opportunity, we equip our pupils with the character, confidence and determination to excel in the classroom and beyond.

As Saint Paul reminds us:

“Encourage one another and build each other up.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11

This verse captures our vision of a community where every young person is supported, challenged and inspired to flourish in faith, learning and life.

Have a lovely weekend.

Harvest 2026, Family Fast Day and Salisbury Foodbank Appeal

As a school community, we are very pleased to begin our Harvest 2026 appeal, which this year again will support Salisbury Foodbank, a charity that is in great need of our help at this time of year.

From today, we will be encouraging pupils to bring in donations of food items for our school collection. These can be brought into school and placed directly in the food collection baskets in Reception. We are very grateful in advance for your generosity and support, and for helping your children to take part in this important act of charity and service.

This year, we would like Harvest to be more than simply a one-day event. Instead, it will mark the beginning of our regular food collections this term, as we continue to support those in need in our local community. Among the items especially needed are listed below

Today also marks CAFOD Family Fast Day, which is being observed across the country. Many collections will be taking place in our churches over the weekend, during and after Mass. Parents who wish to support CAFOD financially are very welcome to do so directly, and any such contributions will be greatly appreciated.

Later in the year, I will also be informing parents/carers about our house competitions, which will include weighing the food collections as part of our ongoing efforts to encourage generous participation across the school.

We are also delighted to share that on Friday I met with our new school chaplains in our new school chapel, and I was very proud of them. It was a joyful and encouraging meeting as we began discussing the way forward for chaplaincy this year. Their enthusiasm, generosity and willingness to serve the school community were wonderful to see, and I look forward to all that they will contribute in the months ahead.
