On 22 September our Year 9 Football Team traveled to Reading to take part in a National Small Schools Football Cup against Theale Green School. This is the first year in which St Joseph’s have entered a team and this is due to the fantastic performances the Year 9 Football team displayed last season. On a glorious sunny day the game soon heated up with St Joseph’s going 1-0 down, to 1-1 within the first 10minutes, again the boys went down 2-1 and levelled to 2-2 before the half time break. In the second half the game remained high paced with St Joseph’s having most chances and finally scoring to make it 3-2 in our favour. Sadly in the final 10minutes Theale Green scored two quick goals in concession resulting the in game finishing 5-3. The Year 9 team played their socks off and were unlucky to go away with a loss, they showed that they are ready to play against the Salisbury teams this year in the league which starts in January. Goals were scored by Owen (2) and Jayden, Man of the Match was our Goal Keeper Will who played fantastically well!
