On Monday 26.09.16, the entirety of year 8 attended a visit to Stonehenge. We arrived after a noisy coach trip and divided into 3 groups, in which we would switch around at hourly intervals, not forgetting lunch in between because who can forget lunch?
Our three subjects were Art, History and Geography. History was in the heritage tourist centre containing historic artefacts, this was particularly enjoyable as one of us was able to hold the staff which had a deer’s head on the top.
We boarded a mini bus to head up to the stones for our Geography task where we got our work booklets ready. Unfortunately it started to rain so we completed the activity verbally as our booklets were drenched. We completed a tourist survey and identifying landmarks surrounding the stones.
After lunch headed back to the stones for the final activity: Art.
Art was very amusing where Miss Mallows set an enjoyable task of drawing the stones using a view finder to help create perspective and applying tone and texture. We considered the composition using the rule of thirds and cameras to capture the stones.
Overall I enjoyed my trip to Stonehenge it was a great mix of fun and education.
