As parents, I am sure many of you will already be aware of our extremely pleasing results at GCSE this year. They were especially pleasing in light of the ‘volatile’ results across the whole country. Out of the 79 pupils who attended our school in Year 11, 53% achieved the gold standard of 5+A*-C (inc. E&M) and with remarks we are confident of achieving 58% 5+A*-C (inc. E&M).
What is most pleasing about this result is that our very challenging target was exceeded yet again. Over the past 3 years we have smashed this difficult target by on average 11% which most schools do not reach; never mind far exceed.
There were also outstanding results for many departments within our school which clearly demonstrates our commitment to excellence. Worthy of particular mention are Maths, English, Geography, French, History, ICT, RE, Sociology and PE.
Although we have not received our official percentile ranking from the DFE for this year’s GCSE results, we have been ranked previously in the top 2% of schools nationally for how much progress pupils make beyond their targets, (5+ A* – C (including English & Maths)). This is based upon the pupils’ progress from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 and we expect to achieve similar rankings this year.
