Salisbury Sea Cadets went to the Sea Cadet National Combined Regatta, at the Royal Victoria Dock last weekend. Continuing the achievements of previous years, T.S. Salisbury’s rowing teams have had an extremely successful year, winning many events at, firstly Wessex District level and then Southern Area level to get to the National Finals. Only the winner of each event progresses to the next level.
With 4 teams getting to the London finals, Salisbury Sea Cadets had a big task to train to this high level. The 4 teams were;
- Rowing Boat Handling; a five person crew points based skills competition.
- Mixed Open Yole; a two person sliding seat rowing boat.
- Open Boys Rowing; a five person rowing crew.
- Junior Boys Rowing; a five person rowing crew.
Visitors to Churchill Gardens in Salisbury over the last few months may have seen the teams practicing on the River Avon.
All 4 teams won and are now National Champions! A fantastic achievement by all 20 of the cadets (including reserves) involved.
