Our two students, Jamie and Sabien, who had managed to qualify for the final of the Salisbury Community Bake Off on Friday put5 forward an amazing account of themselves and the school at Waitrose on Friday. Their thoughts of success were overshadowed when they found out they were by far the youngest competitors left in the competition and they were up against students who were up to 18 years old and completing professional cooking qualifications.
However, our students knuckled down and focused on the task in hand, practicing the cakes they had been so diligently perfecting the week before and as time went on they realised that they were holding their own in the event.
After 2 and a half hours of baking, cooling and decorating the cakes were done and the students just had to wait for the judges. They deliberated their decision for a long time and looking at their reactions through the viewing gallery at Waitrose’s professional kitchen it was clear they were very impressed with the work of our two students.
Results were in and a well-deserved joint third place was awarded to Sabien and an outstanding second place was awarded to Jamie for their efforts. The full story can be found on the Facebook page ‘Salisbury Community Bake Off’ and also in this Weeks Salisbury Journal.
Well done boys and I look forward to more of the same next year!
