St Joseph’s pupils (class of 15/16) have every right to call themselves one of our most successful year groups ever. Pupils made excellent progress, with over 70% achieving a Grade C or above in Maths and 74% in English. Overall, pupils achieved 62% A* – C including Maths and English. 33% of all GCSE entries resulted in an A* – B grade, a reflection of the hard work and dedication of both pupils and their teachers.

The value added measure shows that our pupils outstrip the national target, and that year on year, we are adding value to our pupils’ education. Pupils that join us later, either from overseas, other areas or schools benefit from our supportive environment and make excellent progress in their time with us. We are confident that the new progress indicator for schools (called Progress 8) which will be published in the autumn will show our continued ability to add value to pupils and give them the best possible opportunity to succeed in the next stage of their lives.

Our Able, Gifted and Talented pupils benefit from additional intervention and experiences and this year their education at St Joseph’s added more than half a grade to their outcomes. In a year where the percentage of A and A* awarded nationally decreased, St Joseph’s can celebrate the success of pupils such as Harry Thompson, achieving 9A*-A and 1B and Kirstie Stage who achieved 8 A*-A and 2 Bs. Fraser Barclay was third in the highest performing stakes with 6A*-A and 4Bs, and Jerin Jacob and Logan Mewitt also excelled.

St Joseph’s is committed to ensuring an excellent education for all our pupils, and we are proud to have had the opportunity to nurture and develop the class of 2015/16.
