The first race of the cross country race took place this week and what a start to the season for St Joseph’s runners.
The Junior boys were the first to run over the hilly course at Amesbury and first runner in for the school was Thomas Musselwhite who finished 7th in the race closely followed by Owen Taylor in 8th. The team’s other runners were Sam Webb, Ed Nash, James Morris, Stephen Buckett, Matt Dennis and Peter Brookbank who finished in 15th, 18th, 21st, 28th, 30th and 33rd place respectively.
Next in was Joseph Thompson in the Minor boys race in 6th place a fantastic effort and a huge smile at the end. Also running in the Minor boys race was Josh Dyer (19th).
The Minor girls were next and another big smile from Issy Giordano who finished in 12th place and did not find the hard as she thought it would be. Not far behind was Catherine Bayada in 24th.
The final race of the day saw our Inter boys team set off in the mixed Inter and Senior girls and boys race. It was a closely fought race with a sprint finish victory for Josh Shuter over Jaymee Domoney. Next in was Liam Davis (5th), Dom Butler (7th), Ben Saunby (9th) and Billy Ward (20th). Those results guaranteed the Inters a win in the first race.
