Last month we were privilege to take 15 of our Year 10 pupils to Winchester University to experience what a university feels like and to see how it differs from a school and college campus.

The day was aimed at motivating and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential in all subject areas. It also raised awareness of the learning opportunities open to pupils and aimed to increased their aspiration, performance and achievement to ensure they worked hard to reach their full potential throughout their education.

On arrival pupils were given a welcome talk. They were then asked the question “Why go to University?” What is a degree?” They also had a talk on Funding your Degree – Student Finance. All of these lectures were very informative and gave the pupils inspiration for their future, knowing that it was an affordable option and definitely open to everyone!

During the morning pupils were able to sign up to a subject lecture. They could choose between: Psychology, Event Management, Forensics Linguistics, Geography, Sport, Health Communication and Social Care and Primary Education. The lectures were fun, informative and gave a real insight into what each subject involved.

The day was a great success and pupils came back inspired and motivated.
