The Big Sleep 2019
18 pupils and 4 staff took part in Alabare's Big Sleep at the start of March.
The pupils, ranging from year 9 to year 11, braved the elements and slept out rough in the Cloisters at Salisbury Cathedral. Our group formed about a 10th of all the participants and we have raised just over £2000 - a great achievement and money that will be put to great use by the charity supporting the homeless in our local area.
Some of out pupils spoke very eloquently about their experience on the news. Watch the link here.
World Book Day
Staff and pupils alike dressed up as theiur favourite characters from books. There were many exciting activities for pupils to get involved with and share a love of reading, including a book swap, book donation and of course the costume parade and judging. The pupils raised an amazing £400 which was donated to Book Aid, a charity that provides literature for children in areas of poverty across the world.
The school is very proud of our pupils supporting local charities. At Christmas, as weell as the run up to Easter we have had very succesful food donation campaigns. The school also raised £460 from a non uniform day to help support the important work Trussel Trust do in our local community.
One of our pupils was brave enough to allow Mrs Becher to shave his head, all in aid of supporting a charity close to his heart. The Year 11 pupil raised almost £200, which he is donating to Parkinson's UK, a charity that aims to get better care, treatments and quality of life for those dealing with Parkinson's disease.
